April 24, 2023, the EACLC Project phase II launching ceremony and pre-sale activity held successfully in Ubungo district, Dar es Salaam. The project is invested by Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. Kassim Majaliwa, Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania arrived at the Project Site and delivered a speech that the government will fully support this project to build the first large-scale commercial and logistics center in East Africa. At the same time, he also made a promise to domestic and foreign investors that the government will continue to improve the investment environment to attract more investors and create the first largest and most professional commercial and logistics center market in East Africa.

"This project aims to further boost Tanzanian economic development and promote economic growth. I am deeply impressed by this project. I appeal to Tanzanian people for supporting it. This project will create 15,000 direct jobs and more than 50,000 indirect jobs," said Prime Minister . Kassim Majaliwa. After his speech, the Prime Minister personally visited the project to know the construction progress.

The project was undertaken by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), and currently the construction work is in two shifts for 24 hours. It is expected the main body will be capped in the end of September this year, and it is planned to be officially put into operation in early 2024.
Suo Peng, Chargé d 'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, and Chu Kun, Commercial Counselor of the Commercial Office, attended the Ceremony. Suo Peng said that China and Tanzania are traditionally friends and have close economic and trade cooperation. China has been Tanzania's largest trading partner and investor for continuous years. Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania. The two sides will deepen the traditional friendship and close cooperation in various fields to benefit the both Tanzanian and Chinese peoples. It is hoped that Tanzania government provides a better business environment for China enterprises to invest in Tanzania.

The project is located in Ubungo area of Dar es Salaam, adjacent to the national traffic trunk roads, with convenient land, sea and air transportation. It has supporting facilities of warehousing and logistics center. The total construction area is of 75,000 square meters with 2,060 shops. It is the largest specialized commodity trading center and distribution center in East Africa, aiming to provide African people with high quality and low price products and platform services by taking advantages of Dar es Salaam port, an African port, and the zero tariff policy of the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community. In addition, an integrated office center of government departments is set up on the third floor to provide one-stop service for all settled enterprises and shop owners.
