On December 13th, China (Shandong)-Tanzania Economic and Trade Collaboration Cloud Dialogue held successfully. It was organized by Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the United Republic of Tanzania and Tanzania Embassy in China.

Participants in this online forum are H.E.Mbelwa Kairuki, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to PRC, Director of Department of Trade Integration of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tanzania, Investment Promotion Manager, Tanzania Investment Center, Director of Trade Promotion, Tantrade, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Commerce, Deputy Director of Weihai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Wendeng District Bureau of Commerce, Wendeng District  Government officers, more than 70 representatives from Shandong and Tanzanian enterprises and organizations.

The main offline venues of the event were set up in Tanzania Embassy in China, Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce and East Africa Trade Logistics Center (EACLC) of Tanzania, and a sub-venue was set up in Wendeng, Weihai city. Wang Peng, Director of West Asia and Africa Division, Provincial Department of Commerce hosted the dialogue. Mr. Kairuki, Tanzanian Ambassador to China and Zhang Xingcheng, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Commerce made opening remarks respectively.

Ambassador Kairuki said in his speech that in recent years, more and more entrepreneurs from Shandong have invested in various fields in Tanzania, and Shandong Province is one of the closest economic partners with Tanzania. It is hoped that more and more enterprises from Shandong Province will come to Tanzania to explore new markets and investment opportunities. Meanwhile, Tanzanian businessmen are looking forward to seeking more and wider cooperation opportunities with Chinese companies.

Director Zhang Xingcheng pointed out that Shandong's economic and trade cooperation with Tanzania is highly complementary, and the development foundation and momentum are good. Substantial achievements have been made in cooperation mechanism, trade expansion, platform construction and investment promotion. At the same time, he suggested that the two sides could further deepen understanding through regular visits and joint activities. Director Zhang suggested that the two sides should together to hold an exhibition and make good use of the platform to promote the trade development between Shandong and Tanzania. He also mentioned that the East Africa Commercial and logistics center, warehousing logistics park and cross-border e-commerce platform invested by Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. played an important role in serving trade exchange and promoting cooperation between Shandong and Tanzania. In future, the functional advantages of the overseas economic and trade cooperation zones should be better made use of to gather more Shandong enterprises, innovate trade model and promote the development of trade exchanges.

During the cooperation and promotion session, Shan Haoren, Deputy party secretary and district head of Wendeng District, Weihai City, said that based on market demand in Tanzania, the supply chain networks would be integrated in an all-round way, and the construction of the comprehensive service cooperation zone of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Industrial Park invested by Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd would be accelerated.The construction of overseas warehouses and exhibition center will also be speed up to be built as a core platform for the development of new cross-border e-commerce model. This would promote the export of high-quality products made in Shandong province, especially in Wendeng district to Tanzania and import of Tanzania's minerals, agricultural products to Shandong, thus encouraging more enterprises to take the initiative to go out exploring more opportunities in different fields and build a deeper and closer cooperation relationship with Tanzania.

As a representative, Ms. Wang Xiangyu, president of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center Chamber of Commerce, was invited to make a speech. She introduced that the Comprehensive Service Cooperation Zone of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Industrial Park is a platform to promote the two-way circulation of goods between China and Tanzania. The platform plays a positive role in promoting friendly exchanges between Chinese and Tanzanian people, building the overseas image of China brand and promoting cultural communication. The cooperation zone will also facilitate the development of Tanzania's manufacturing, trade, logistics and transportation, e-commerce, infrastructure construction and other industries.  industrial workers and skilled talents, and lay the foundation for Tanzania's future industrialization transformation. Workers will be trained to be skilled talents to lay the foundation for Tanzania's industrialization transformation in the future.

During the final session, with the witness of government leaders, EACLE LIMITED signed strategic cooperation agreements on the fields of medical projects, mineral development, and trade procurement with a domestic pharmaceutical group and a new energy materials company. In addition, this event also contributed the strategic cooperation on the operating of Tanzanian public bus line between Shandong Golden Beach Bus Operation Management Co., Ltd and Zhongtong Bus Co., Ltd.

This event is a practical action to implement the spirit of The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and to promote the achievements of President Hassan's visit to China and the implementation of the MOU between Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce and Tanzania's Ministry of Investment Industry and Trade last year. It will bring new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation between Shandong and Tanzania, promoting the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Tanzania and enhancing the implementation of the "nine projects" of China-Africa cooperation.

The event was undertook by Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., aiming at strengthening the exchanges between relevant government agencies and enterprises in Shandong Province and Tanzania. During the Covid-19 epidemic, although the two sides could not hold face-to-face cooperative communication, Huatan Company coordinated and prepared this online cloud dialogue in response to the national initiative of deepening the high-quality "the belt and road". It contributes to further promoting pragmatic cooperation between the two sides in more fields, jointly discussing executable and achievable economic and trade cooperation plans and deepening pragmatic cooperation.
