From July 4 to July 7, 2022, Tanzania International Trade Fair and China Shandong Market Purchasing Trade (Tanzania) Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "SABASABA Fair") was successfully held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Under the organization and publicity of the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, 50 enterprises from Shandong Province participated in the exhibition. As the specific organizer of this SABASABA fair, Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. did best to do all relevant works. This time the exhibition theme is "Shandong products entering Africa", and it promoted the layout of new market procurement trade formats in Africa and finally achieved good results. 

On the opening ceremony day of July 4th, Dr. Hussein Ali Hassan Mwinyi, the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of Tanzania, visited the 46th SABASABA Fair on behalf of Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. President Mwinyi visited the Shandong pavilion and had a cordial conversation with Ms. Wang Xiangyu, the project director of Weihai Huatan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. in Tanzania. President Mwinyi expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce for their work on actively convening enterprises to participate in the SABASABA fair. She hoped that more Chinese companies would get to know Tanzania through this exhibition and welcome they to invest in Tanzania.

This exhibition fully displayed our resource advantages of combining "offline display and market procurement with online cross-border e-commerce platform". We are committed in building East Africa "Shandong Brand" exhibition and trading center. In this exhibition, a total of 50 enterprises from 14 cities in Shandong province including Jinan, Qingdao and Weihai participated in the exhibition. The exhibited commodities can be classified as nine categories including dozens of products such as agricultural machinery, automobile and motorcycle parts, clothing, shoes and hats, food processing machinery, building materials, and daily necessities.

The embassy of China in Tanzania participated in the publicity and reporting on the Expo on its WeChat official account. More than 13,000 foreign affairs personnel from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and all over the world followed this account. At the same time, Tanzania's mainstream newspaper media such as The Citizen, The Guardian, Daily News, NIPASHE, and TV media such as AZAM TV, ITV, TBC, etc. followed up and reported the participation of Shandong enterprises during the exhibition period. The local media highly recognized the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce’s work on advocating domestic enterprises to go out and participate in the construction of African along the "the Belt and Road ". It benefits the local people and sets off a upsurge in learning about Shandong among local residents

The results and objectives of the exhibition

(1) The African market is emerging. Data shows that from January to October 2021, the bilateral import and export volume of goods between China and Tanzania was USD 5,508.32 million, an increase of USD 191,989,700 compared with the same period in 2020, with a year-on-year increase rate of 53.6%. The market potential is huge. We will delicately build two networks, namely, a precise investment network in China, and a marketing network in Africa. With smooth communication and connecting with distribution channels, we can enhance publicity and investment promotion to bring more high-quality products to Africa and introduce the development model of new market procurement and trade to more African countries.

(2) Integration and development of multi-industries is progressed. We accelerated the construction of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center Industrial Park, increased capital investment, built overseas trading platforms and channels such as East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center, Huatan overseas warehouse, overseas exhibition center and cross-border e-commerce platform. We strive for being a national-level overseas economic and trade cooperation park, and integrate supply chain resources in Shandong to provide a convenient platform for enterprises in the whole province to go abroad and enter Africa markets. 

(3) Higher trade revenue will be achieved. Different from the timeliness of other exhibitions, after the end of the exhibition, the samples of exhibitors will be delivered to the overseas exhibition center of East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center for display permanently throughout the year, which will provide exhibitors with one-year display for their customers. It will help exhibitors create more opportunity to achieve higher trade revenue. Thus, Sino-Africa economic and trade cooperation relationship will also be strengthen.
